The First Time I Stop Breathing

I feel like molasses,
all heavy-lidded eyes. Somewhere by the crook of my elbow,
you say
I never thought I'd let anyone get this close.
My words answer brokenly, fingers in your hair,
and our dark wine movements make
peace with suffocation.
